INT - WHITE HOUSE - CIRCA 1975
The President, of this world, not our world, but one like it. Same historical events, different people.
Here is stood before a row of people, who are reporters, and advisors.
PRESIDENT LOGAN
The nuke is hot and live. In the Jungles of Cambodia, near the soviet's old stomping ground.
ADVISOR MITCHELL
Our men, our people, our way, our freedom, is on the cross of liberty people.
LOGAN
Better words I could not say. I have contacted the usual people. They're en-route as we deliberate.
MITCHELL
And if we loose this nuke, we are at the mercy of this fiends.
LOGAN
Don't just dream of success, make it a success.
MITCHELL
Our men are the best sir. We can rely on them.
LOGAN
Seven years of top notch training at area 51. I'd say they are.
MITCHELL
Precisely sir. Remember, we're the experts not them.
LOGAN
There are no experts at war son. Just bodies.
MITCHELL
Yes, sir.
LOGAN
The craft we yield today, is one of power, but also one of hope, and opportunity. We've been chasing
the leaders of the Axis of Evil, for a long time. To have them all together in one spot, for this exchange. It's quite remarkable
MITCHELL
Yes sir. To save a world, you must free a world.
LOGAN
Exactly. When Johnson and his boys arrive, send them to me. I have some for their ears only side orders. If you understand.
MITCHELL
They're on the emergency wagon now. Flying in over utah as we speak sir.
LOGAN
Good stuff. Right, this concludes this meeting. Mitchell stay here, there are a few other matters we must discuss.
MITCHELL
War has many angles doesn't it?
LOGAN
And many eyes.
MITCHELL
Alright you reporter type people, time to go do some reporting.
REPORTERS murmur in agreement and leave the room.
LOGAN
So Mitchell, what's your take?
MITCHELL
Honestly sir? Jungle warfare has never been easy. To fight in the shadow of a thousand trees is hard enough. Throw in the landscape they must traverse. It's not going to be Iraq that's for sure.
LOGAN
Yes our boys do take to desert warfare quite well. Could we lay down some supression bombs before we infiltrate the area?
MITCHELL
No sir. It's a heavily populated area.
LOGAN
Smart move.
MITCHELL
They know us as well as we know them sir.
LOGAN
It shows. Those sneaky bastards have been beneath our feet for a long time.
MITCHELL
A dozen mice and only one block of cheese. It was never going to be easy sir.
LOGAN
Enough talk, get me those assholes from cambodia on the phone. Time we shaped up a little ground.
MITCHELL
The Prime Minister?
LOGAN
Who else?
MITCHELL
He's just a bit, uh, stand off-ish sir. Might be better to talk to his second in command.
LOGAN
Whichever one you like, put him on the phone. There is too much at stake to leave anything to chance.
MITCHELL
I will contact him sir, but he is, well, on holiday.
LOGAN

Shapeless Horizons of A Divided Sky
Narrator:
Across a dark void of space, a gulf of existence lay bare. Colonies and endless horizons,
shaped across a vast universe.
The race known simply as E. They were a vast uncompromising body of intellectual giants.
A hundred light years to the northern stars, were a race dubbed The Journyers.
FADE IN.
EXT - Space - The Northern Star Charts - CIRCA A FUTURE YET TOLD
The stars are lit up by surrounding nebulae and almost make the whole universe appear to be just a sky it's self, to a greater place.
Narrator:
War has raged between these factions for thousands of years. As the dawn of the new day comes to be,
so do the battle cries of a hundred commanders.
Yes indeed, this is a universe torn apart by political strife and a populous sprawling out of control.
A behemoth of a vehicle appears from hyper space, into the nebula.
Narrator:
Internal friction and dischord has resulted in many self enforced political upheaval. These are
the wars within a war. Everyone has a claim to the universe, and neither race will relinquish power or
vital battle ground.
Another five thousand and four hundred ships appear beside the great ship. They line up like an amarda. They are an armada. War is afoot.
Narrator:
These are the stories of a few people from a few places. Part of an epic universal war. Political mechanics
are exposed by incapacity. These are governments struggling to contain control over it's people.
Civil un-rest has never been greater or more loud. Yet the armies march on-ward, bravely, or perhaps stupidly, into the great battles of their future.
We stop here for a moment, to visit an old friend. Captain Argon, a leader of the first ship of the seventh army of the ninth world of serrenades. A beautiful sight, yet the beholder of such destruction.
One thing is for sure. Today will not be a good day. For anyone.
The ships begin to engage light drives, and they hurtle forward quicker than a shooting comet.
A giant expulsion of fuels and gasses leave a almost hypnotic beautiful trail of neon light and flares.
INT - The First Ship
The Captain, Argon, is marching down the halls, with a very determined look to him.
ARGON
Hey dreamer, wake up.
Communications Officer Ergersan.
We set foot in enemy space, and you need wake me? I am more awake now than I ever was.
ARGON
True enough my good friend. Let the good wine keep you company til we reach their outpost.
ERGERSAN
Hard to enjoy good wine, on such a bad day commander.
ARGON
We are the elected provisors of our province's remit. It is not ours to question.
ERGERSAN
Nor the stupidy of it I suppose.
ARGON
Speak to me.
ERGERSAN
Your mind is metal.
ARGON
People always call me stubborn. (He laughs)
ERGERSAN
No commander, but this is our mission. A one way trip perhaps hey?
ARGON
Let me speak to Vin, the illusion gel will solve your anxiety.
ERGERSAN
I don't want to feel safe in this hell.
ARGON
Who would my friend. A good captain might say, 'chin up'. A great captain might say,
"Look to the future.", but me Ergersan? I say, just relax and focus. Let me get those illusion gels.
ERGERSAN
Very well. Moving to the rear side of the ship anyhow, that brooks has messed up the engine capacity regulators.
ARGON
And there we meet then. Walk calm my friend. Walk calm.
ERGERSAN
You're a good captain. An even better friend.
ARGON
Ditto numbskull. (they laugh)

A song simply called "Ain't No Brother Of John" or if you want to have fun with it. "The Devil's Fool"
V1)
This sick little man, is the devil's dirty hand, the magican's broken wand, the dead water atop a pond.
He lives in shadows cast by his own ignorance, he's stuck in neverland waiting for deliverence,
When all he'll find, is the dark side of his mind, that he, unlike me and my brothers, is blind.
He speaks of truth, yet speaks so abstractly stupidly, you'd think you were talking to a child with problems,
not a man with muscles, that he uses to abuse his race, abuse his wife, abuse his life, and abuse my mind,
V2)
He is a child abuser, for he abrused me from day one, he saw the darkness of his heart blacked out the sun,
Like a traveler, without cause or reason, he is the devil's step son, he lives in his womb,
Waiting to uncoil like a scorpion, and sting his prey, who never have time nor chance to ignore this beast.
he lives in the cold fires of hell's dark labyrinths, he is the man without mind soul or reason, just abstract abuse.
C)
The cockroach he is, to be a bug running from fire, to be a sweet little create under his shoe,
to be dead, to be his foe, to be his enemy, is to know darkness, is to know evil.
He speaks the language of the dead, for his already dead, a bitter hollow husk of huamnity,
abject and depriaved, lost and desolate. his heart beats no pulse, for he has no blood to swim along.
V3)
I pity his kids and the horrible life that awaits them, I pity his mind, I pity his wife, I pity his life.
Yet he will sing a song of brillance, using words so simple you could cry, if not try at least to die,
His mind is worn out, like a car battery, struggling for life, struggling for acceptance in a universe
he barely comprends, let alone understands.
His name is paul.
He lives in london. Hope you met him one day.

Dream Song - From Starlight to Eternity
V1)
I walk in the forest, sunlight breaks through the vines, of all his or it's designs, this has to be, simply elementry,
A daylit daze, as my heart races into the future, blind and unsure, of all but the cure,
Like a phantom song, drifting in the auttumn air, A man who can be, can not care, but for you, I do.
Like I dream of simple days watching the sunlight plays, as we walk nowhere,
V2)
The melody of our song, yet to be sung, yet to have begun, like his bow never left the canopy
And our hearts never crossed like the stars above, and no gift of love was ours, just the endless stars to gaze upon, and wonder why or how,
We'd ever dream the same dreams, or watch the same things, as time moves in one way or the other,
And all kind souls left to dream of our love, like the flight of a lonely dove,
C)
I dream a song, a song that does not belong, that you're not gone,
I live a nightmare, you're not there, and i don't know where,
Like the color of sun or the amber of night, it is impossible to see, i can only dream of what could be,
Like a turtle left at the back, to watch the future race past, and truely, only the way i feel could last
V3)
And dreams of future unseen things, like the joy your smile brings,
As sadness creeps into my bones like settling stones made out of fire and ice, my heart shatters like broken mice,
I am the shadow that never fell, I am the light that never cast, as everything I know about you races into the past,
A dream will be the only thing left, and nothing more than gentle breath, can I feel, not your eyes, not your soul.
I walk in the forest, sunlight breaks through the vines, of all his or it's designs, this has to be, simply elementry,
A daylit daze, as my heart races into the future, blind and unsure, of all but the cure,

A Metaphore You
V1)
Sunlight kisses the skin of me, and I fall into a daze, thinking of the stunned and amazed,
As I fall into deep logic, like a computer processing fragments of data, like a equation of matter,
And all earth I feel is slipping away like the setting sun, all the work this world has done slowly unbecomes,
And my mind sleeps in a dark room, away from sun and storm, away from life and atom,
I am the world's prisioner, left cold and stircken, as you all seem to glisten, and listen to nothing,
But the sun never falls forever, one day, you will be lit up like a christmas tree in winter,
V2)
Then there is the dream of a fading reaction, a chemical tryst, in the afternoon mist.
There was light in darkness, joy in sadness, time in stillness, and love in nothing but walls and faces,
Hovering like wasps waitng to sting, for all the pain and misery they bring, you'd think they'ed hang them by their necks,
Leave them to think about the fallout of their destiny, how they took earth and tore her apart,
Left her a husk, one to be caught in the brusk, of another man made artificial winter,
C)
A Metaphore you, and all the stars will sing a chorus of wonder,
A Metaphore you, and all the birds will fly high in the unfrozen sky,
A Metaphore you, and all the winds will cease, and warmth will return,
As I face life without the only person worth a damn, I begin to wonder who I even am,
As starlight fades in the haze of morning, and leafs blow up and away, into the starlit clouds,
I find the beauty of existence, far outweights the darkness of them, I will not be their weapon.
Sunlight kisses the skin of me, and I fall into a daze, thinking of the stunned and amazed,

The Free Radical
V1)
Like a thorn of atom, like stars that glisten, and gods that listen,
we weave in and out of the fabric, like woven magic, in a world too often tragic,
a life without color is not a life it is merely a picture, broken, faded, jaded.
And to be in this, is to be a witness, to the downfall of civility, the end of humanity,
And all dreams will vanish as the daylight finishes, and all hearts will beat monotone.
V2)
A whisper in the darkness, a voice in the night sky, a dream of a world unable to even try,
To remember what she was, what this earth could be again, without the cause of this pain,
The broken matchsticks, the endless drama, it is not fit for a puper, let alone kings of mirth,
As we dance this merry jig, as we dig our graves deep, as we roll away our life, like butter on the knife,
C)
Free radicals, shooting through the atmosphere, a world of torrid abuse and fear, a world of nightmares,
And you let it be, cos you are the enemy, to life, to me, to love, to god, to freedom, to existence.
We will rise like gods, and consume the sky, like a swarm of locust, there will be halocaust,
I will watch this world rise again, into the beautiful thing it was once, before the end of suns,
And the birth of endless night, as we stare deep into the gazing sight, of an eternal twilight,
V3)
And gods make men, not the other way round. There can only be picture and sound, these are just truths,
As thought weaves inbetween both, like a sloth, as we merge between states of being, defining meaning,
I am the human punch bag you love to hit, will my life will be more than this dirty fucked up shit.
Like a thorn of atom, like stars that glisten, and gods that listen,

Destiny Of A Starlit Empire - Part 2
"As we sit on this star, I wonder how you are..."
Vince Circa XXLIV
For a game. For a world.
-
Chapter 1 - "I told you not to dream."
We are looking up, at a soon to be night sky full of twinkling and shooting stars. A few clouds obscure a billion stars.
They look like art.
A flock of birds fly past the setting sun.
We pan around to a man, Vince Neptune, turning around towards his friend, Ji Stellar.
Vince
A thousand nights, like this...it would still not be enough.
JI
It is your duty. You are honour bound.
Vince
To fight a war I do not believe in? For what?
JI
I can not argue on such a beautiful night. Walk with me...
Vince
I can not argue with you ever. Lets.
We follow them as they walk amoung the tall grass, blowing in the wind.
JI
It would be a shame to let tonight go without a quiet thought or two.
Vince
And come the morning, when those destroyers, those frigates, those star ships. They'll be here, and then I won't be. I'll be fighting a war and not a good war. A very bad war.
JI
I would walk on this sun's (Gestures at sunset) harsh lands, if it were to keep you here, with me.
Vince
Don't pine. Don't feel bad. Just keep dreaming.
JI
And if you do not return?
Vince
My heart will not be leaving.
They hug each other. As a giant Orion class starship flies through the sun's glare.
Vince
I hope...
JI
Do not hope...just come home.
Vince
We could leave. Just get on a ship and leave on a outter rim world.
JI
And become outlaws? I'm sure you would have fun Vince, but I have..
Vince
(Shakes head) I'm reaching...
JI
I know you. And you know me. That is not to change, be it a war of the empires or a winter's night alone without each other.
Vince
I know. I know you.
JI
Life's a journey you know. You would get bored staring at my tired face all winter anyway. (She tries to laugh)
He wipes away a tear from her eye.
Vince
This isn't over.
JI
It's just starting.
Vince
The wind is picking up, let's change and eat. One more good meal before I must endure
the squadron's gruel.
JI
I thought you liked Gruel?
He smiles and puts an arm around her as they walk back towards the house.
They walk for several beats
VINCE
Don't worry.
WE FADE TO WHITE
TEXT FADES IN : "A hundred days later"
We are on the great Mountains of Tibia, fifth world from the sun.
It is Vince. Is wandering upward, clutching a photo. His clothes are torn and ragged. He's been in a battle.
Another man comes running up behind him, Luke Skylight
LUKE
Vince! Hold up!
VINCE
For what!? They wiped us out.
LUKE
The Commander is alright! Come on!
VINCE
NO!!!
LUKE
Don't be silly Vince!
VINCE
Silly was leaving my home for this...Silly was learning how to fight.
Silly was dreaming I'll ever see her again.
LUKE
Ji will wait! Vince I'm not trying to fight but the commander needs you!
VINCE
I am out of this unit, and out of this war. Let them fight over the bones of the dead. I will fight for life.
LUKE
You're running away? Like one of those cowards you read about?
VINCE
I am no coward. I am no warrior.
LUKE
Vince!
VINCE
Save your breath. If you're my friend, tell the Commander I was gut shot. If you're not...
LUKE
Great...just great Vince. After all this, after we lose most of our men...you just run!
VINCE
I'm not fighting this war anymore!
LUKE
Then leave. You ass!
VINCE
We the calm finds you again, try to remember what you're fighting for Luke.
LUKE
Oh I do buddy! I really do. Like the freedom of our people!
VINCE
We can never be free like this. Never.
LUKE
Forget you! Forget you buddy!
Luke goes running off.

NO!!!
The Great Unknown
V1)
Birds of light, overhead, in your thoughts, in your head, like the color of magic,
And into the daylight, out of the twilight, comes a day without night, a light without slight,
And all my minds, and all my hearts speak to me, like I speak to time, like I yearn to shine.
And in the empty still night, as colors drains like fading light, and my heart beats a silent melody,
All thoughts form into one, how I long to find the sun,
V2)
An endless, restless wind in the chambers of my mind, a dream i can not relive or find,
A echo of yesteryear, when the night came without fear, and the world was near, not far.
As music played, and dreams were born where I layed, and nothing but the sky was over me,
Then you were, like an invisible color, A night of singing birds, and forgotten words,
C)
The great unknown, is why I dream alone, without you on my throne,
As kings were men, and I am a puper without paper, just a designer without fabric,
As nights come and so does the morning sun, I am a world of one, a life coming undone.
The great unknown, is why we're all alone, without trinket or throne.
Birds of light, overhead, in your thoughts, in your head, like the color of magic,
And into the daylight, out of the twilight, comes a day without night, a light without slight,

Destiny Of The Starlight Empire

Downfall
V1)
A sunlit dream, of a place we've already been, of a wonderful sight already seen,
A land of understanding, a foundation of belief and wonder, a sense of adventure,
And we crossed the stars, from these gentle shores of ours to the red peaks of mars,
We were men of honour, true and with vigour. No shadow would invade our sky.
Yet as we stood, smiling, all the while it was unwinding, all the while it was falling.
V2)
We used to speak a language so beautiful, so full, so whole, yet now, it is derilict
We were visionaries, pioneers and adventurers, we sailed the seven seas,
We searched the night sky for an answer why, who we were, where we belong for who.
We were astronaults and programmers, lovers and thinkers, believers and dreamers,
Yet as we sang, of all the color our beauty brought, the end of our way was all we bought
C)
The world was paradise, an unimaginable landscape, full of gentle giants,
Yet the cost of our rise, was our downfall, and now, we're just waitijng for the end to call,
This world could have been something special, but we lost our way to something evil,
And now even the honest men are liars and cheats, even kings sleep at whore's feet.
And all we are left with, is a false sense of rightiousness. A false truth, that is not going to save us.
V3)

Criminals - Hi, How you doing?
V1)
A waking dawn, and all life is reborn, from the heavy winters of storms and howling skies,
To the bliss of this, a gentle time with a peaceful person, who helps, not worsens,
How easy it must be, to be as evil as you want to be, how easy it must be, to not care.
I don't think you feel the sun, I don't think you feel anything or anyone.
V2)
I may stand alone in the eye of the storm, but no alien force will change my form.
I may be lost at sea, waiting for rescue, but i'll never let you sink my raft,
And though the stars no longer shine, I'll still remember the time they did,
And though you may pour fire on my soul, i'll never let you take control,
C)
The light of the sun, just for the lucky ones, the dream we dare not dream.
You may have loved earth first, but I love her more. Like the battles of a war,
I'll never stop to adore, your destruction, your alienation, your bleak heads filled with morbid things,
I pity you, more than anything could or would, You sit there, like useless wood, dreaming of hurt,
dreaming of death, dreaming of pain. Well, this boy ain't playing your phantom game.
V3)
When the night falls, and tomorrow calls, do you ever ask how gravity pulls?
As the sun rises, and light surrounds us, do you question it's purpose?
Of course you do not, to you, this life doesn't mean a whole lot.
Well fuck you. And every criminal like you.

Seventy Nine Skies
V1)
As tenderly as we wonder, about life the great adventure, in the heat of summer or the bleak chill of winter,
I wonder too, wonder things about you, i speak to no dream as alive, I seek no adventure greater,
A sunrise without warmth is what I feel now, and for the future I can only wonder how,
I'll make it through, without you, like time needs space, I need your love like a endless dream,
V2)
From across the horizon of buildings and people, doing what they do, being good and evil,
I wonder which building is the lucky one, to you amoung, up on the ladder's rung,
I speak to no stars up in the sky, but I try to, I wonder why you don't too.,
As life the parade fades into the bitter fabric of forogtten decades, i'll never forget you,
C)
Like light in space, it'll keep on going, like a train without tracks, it'll keep on running,
My heart's song, made of note and symbol, is a song of you, a song of love.
And the night never comes easy, the morning always hard, like my heart is torn card,
And my soul is worn cotton, ripped and rotten, but there is one feeling that'll never be forgotten

The Poetry
V1)
A human thirst, to be first, to design a future without disorder, to be the inventor,
As we wish for so many things, we get lost in the details, just sat wondering chewing nails,
As life passes by at the speed of light, if you blink you might just miss the day and see only the night,
Breaking the voodoo of what we are, just wanderers stuck on a star, gazing and blazing, if only life was amazing
V2)
A tender note of a forgotten song plays on the radio, life could have been a grand show,
But we robbed the future, gave it back to our maker, now we're just lost creatures,
Wondering who and why we are, and for what purpose, what is our reason, our will or why,
As we sit beneath a bright sky, just hoping life isn't all a lie, as we stubbornly refuse to try,
C)
The poetry of our souls, can leave gapping holes, where life once stood,
But our minds never turn to wood, we are too divine to ever turn bad like wine,
We are the enchanters, the life seekers, the dream makers, and the life savers,
We are the poetry to this bland existence, the whimsy, the romance, the tender thought.

Happy Song
V1)
They built her out of iron and steam, put the pieces together in their dreams
The cost of life, the phantom wish we must possess and be, to simply be free
Yet they made time too fast, nothing able to last, everything set to be past,
And like a house of cards, one by one they fell, and not to which future we set sail,
I stand here in the middle of their creation, but we know god nor man will bring salvation,
V2)
And now the populous demands it's own destruction, it's a bleak picture of desperation,
What went so wrong, that no one nor nothing really belongs, and now even god must wonder how.
We stand on the alter of worship, but we have nothing to praise. Just an empy sky of light plays,
And I don't see the future coming to be, if we stay so empty, so bereft, not much joy or beauty left
I guess truth is, most life is born corrupt, without anything to offer but an end that is abrupt.
C)
And now we play in the neon forrest, trees alive with electricity, sky bright with prospertiy
And my eyes have never seen such a wondrous landscape, a blue lit dream from which we need no escape,
And time is forever, just like us, just like the magic bus, that carries us along, singing a happy song,
And my heart sings, of all the joy this moment brings, for only the end of this is the sting

HardWired - Part 5
Chapter 1 - "Neonprint"
INT
A desolate New York apartment. It is the future, only not as we know it.
Our imaginings were wrong. The colors are gradient based, like a computer application.
The walls are alive with neon glowing animation and computer read outs. Local news,
Back stories, random fragments off random social sites.
It is a single large room, with a couple of doors leading elsewhere. The fourth wall, holds a gaint oval window, gently reflecting the living fabric of the room. and behind it a giant fan, hovering via anti-grav, spings what you might call magic air, into the room. it is artifically produced and treated to go through equally treated surfaces.(I.e, the window)
The sunlight is bright and spiteful. Laying down a giant spinng parade of light beams into the room, cut only by the shadow of the spinning fan.
It reaches out over to a highly highly sophisticated sofa, that has all the hallmarks of the century.
A man, simply known as Icarus, sits upon it. The shadow descending over his naked chest. a smoking capsule, as technological as anything of their era, dangles out of his mouth. He is not amused.
We sit here for a few moments. The fan spinning, the light rotating and cascading around the turning fans.
ICARUS (NARRATING)
They say the world is a series of systems. Networks. Interchangeable high speed data exchange.
Money gained and lost quicker than light travels. Lifes bought and sold for the dollar.
They say the world is a vast network of organizations. Baying for power. At each other's throats.
Dying to be kings. Or just dying.
They say we're all expendable. Tagged. Positioned and fought against in a world of shadow cooperation who make it their business to keep the status, qou.
He flicks the smoke across the room, it evaparoutes before it hits the ground.
He gets up and faces the camera.
ICARUS (NARRATING)
In this world, they're not wrong.
He walks over to a communication hub, highly decorated with dynamic animations.
ICARUS
I am Icarus. No last name. I am the product of a world of terror. A world where life is secondary
to big business and end profit. I am also the leader of Jet Sky. We are not terrorists, but there are plenty
who fear us. We signal change. In a world that subsides on static virtues. We built this world on a foundation of hope and prosperity. We threw it to the dogs.
He waves his hand over the device and a holographic list of faces appears. he waves over one.
ICARUS
Nice dreams?
ROBIN
(half laughs) No.
ICARUS
Is this line secure?
ROBIN
We're atop a star.
ICARUS
We change things today. We show the world who they're dying for.
ROBIN
I'm hardcoded to this cause, You don't have to sell it to me.
ICARUS
I'm selling it to myself. It's always good to feel the weight of your own vigour.
ROBIN
We're too good at this shit, it's a relatively simple job once you put aside the ramifications.
ICARUS
The job's the job.
ROBIN
Exactly. Ping Ray, the sun is setting.
ICARUS
He'll be nervous.
ROBIN
He's always nervous before a job.
ICARUS
This is not just another episode. Bring some levelers. Calm him down some.
ROBIN
Stim'ed on the job?
ICARUS
That guy's always flying, no state of sober could put his feet back on the floor.
ROBIN
He's a blue eyed rebel, that's for sure.
ICARUS
He'll be sound. Good head on his shoulders.
ROBIN
No problem. Best ping him now, the night is here.
ICARUS
I'll talk to you later. Keep the faith.
ROBIN
Always.
He makes a hand gesture and the call ends.
He is about to make another ping when the system auto-activates on the emergency band.
RAY (Out of breath)
Jesus Icarus, they are fucking crazed and wild!
ICARUS
They found you?
RAY
Found me!? They're outside with a G.K Seven. I'm toast!
ICARUS
You're no such thing. Find the escape vent and make your way to the roof. I'll be there.
RAY
What am I going to open the fucking thing with, my dick!?
ICARUS
Calm fucking down Ray. Use your weapon.
RAY
Right! Right... *gunshot noise* It worked! Alright hurry fucking up!
The line goes dead as ray hangs up.
Icarus pings Robin urgently.
ICARUS
They've got Ray. Meet me at the wasting grounds.
ROBIN
Awww fuck. Gear'ing up. Shit never gets easier.
ICARUS
Bring a calm head.
ROBIN
Don't worry.
He hangs up again. He begins to pack for the occasion.
ICARUS (NARRATING)
Tonight our band of brothers go on a mission to prove the hypocracy of this puppet regime.
We could be the last group of people on this planet, still fighting for the right way of life.
Yes, we walk into the open arms of uncertainty. But we do so with belief in our cause.
He has finished gearing up, and heads towards the door which automatically senses his presence and opens for him on a quick hand gesture.
ICARUS
Lights neutral.
The lights dim to neutral levels.
ICARUS (NARRATING)
No mission is perfect. But tonight...tonight went bad. Real bad.
Ray was dead before I reached him. Robin got arrested. I was nearly in the same wagon with him.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - YEARS LATER
Icarus is walking through a scattered crowd of night dwellers. It is 2am. He is dressed in a long trenchcoat with neon arm bands animated as most of the street signs and store windows are also.
We are following him closely as he weaves in and around the crowd, he has a certain sense of purpose about him.
We keep following him closely.
TWO BEATS
He reaches his mark. A tall politican of the United States Race to Arms Movement.
He pulls out a very hi tech looking weapon.
ICARUS
Walk.
DAVID
Who the fuck are you? Get lost you asshole.
ICARUS
Look down.
He looks down and sees the semi-concealed energy based weapon.
DAVID
You're mugging me? Do you have any idea who I am? You sorry little maggot.
ICARUS
I get my looks from my father's side. Move. Now.
DAVID
Are you a moron? Do you watch the news like at all? Get fucking lost before I have you arrested and fucked up the ass.
ICARUS
I'm running out of patience. Move now or I'm going to do something you regret.
DAVID
Jesus fucking...Alright you spineless fuck. I'm moving.
ICARUS
You got in bed with the wrong people my friend.
DAVID
What? This isn't..you're not mugging me?
ICARUS
Money means nothing to me. Five years ago you took something away from me.
DAVID
What the fuck are you talking about?
ICARUS
Look into my eyes. It will come back to you.
David
You're fucking nuts.
ICARUS
This isn't a question of sanity. It's a question of justice. You are a very bad man David.
DAVID
So what, you're after your slice of the pie?
ICARUS
What me and my people want, you can not offer. Because what we want, is a world without people like you.
DAVID
We keep this world steaming.
ICARUS
You keep this world in a hole. Shed us a little light when the sun isn't in your way. This isn't life my friend, it's slavery.
DAVID
What are you some fucking freedom fighter?
ICARUS
I havn't thought of it. I think you know what I'm after.
DAVID
My U-Tier key? The fuck you think I am, stupid? I'd be eating out of a trash can they found out.
ICARUS
David....don't push me.
DAVID
It's at the congressional apartments. What do you think it will buy you?
ICARUS
A better tomorrow.
DAVID
We are tomorrow.
ICARUS
You're dreaming David. Give me you apartment key. Now.
DAVID
I'll call the cops the second you leave.
ICARUS
No you won't. You're a coward David. All your kind are.
DAVID
When they lock your ass up. I'm going to personally throw away the key.
ICARUS
Have a nice day David.
He puts away the piece and walks away, taking the apartment key with him.
DAVID
Shit...
INT - DAVID'S APARTMENT - LATER THAT NIGHT
ICARUS (NARRATING)
I saw the world I loved turn from a peaceful prosperity, to a corporate-run jungle. Business is all. Money is their religion.
Sick little men grabbing their handful of coin. They'ed cut your throat for the silver that lined it.
The door blows open.
He looks down at his hand, holding a key.
ICARUS
Oh yeah...
He shrugs and walks in. The place is lit a dark amber hue. He begins to search through David's belongings.
ICARUS (NARRATING)
They drove us to the brink of oblivion. And they would have happily held our hand as we took the final step.
What they don't get, what none of their kind could ever hope to understand...is just how strong we are. Just how far we'd go
to stop them destroying our people and their land.
He stops looking. Holding up a holographic projector. VE-64 series. State of the Art.
He activates the device and places it on top of the table.
A projection of a man appears. at first low resolution but as the reality matrix locks in the picture becomes crystal clear, with fuzzy edges as the projection meets reality.
The man is Senator Johnstone.
SENATOR
It's done. Account number five five nine seven eight five five four seven six. Do not contact me again.
The message ends abruptly.
ICARUS
David, what have you been up to?
He pockets the device and continues to rifle through the desk and personal artifacts.
ICARUS (NARRATING)
What I was about to find next, was going to change everything.
He continues to search.
Another holographic device, this one of an unknown design to Icarus.
ICARUS
Nice to meet you.
He plants it on the table and activates the device.
A holographic projection plays. perfectly instantly this time. no fuzzy edges. Icarus has never seen such a clear rendition of the tech.
The figure is a unknown man. He is holding a lighter.
MYSTERY MAN
Ah, David. You really are quite the prodigy. First you rig an election,
and then you get me this diamond ring! If only they knew the life we must endure *laughs*
Well David, it's been my pleasure as ever, we'll be in touch.
The projection disappears.
ICARUS
They bought the election....
He pockets the device.
As he does there is a sound of a car door shutting outside. and the voice of several inter-state peace keepers. The cops of the time.
PEACE KEEPER #1
Report of breaking and entering.
ICARUS
Fuck.
He looks around the room, looking for a fire escape or roof hatch.
The cops are at the stairs door.
He spots a hatch in David's room. It is locked.
ICARUS
I'm a bad house guest.
He pulls his energy gun and vapourizes the hatch.
The peace keepers hear the fire.
PEACE KEEPER #1 (Shouting)
Stop! in the name of the state!
ICARUS
Bye bye ladies.
He pulls himself up. We follow him as he gracefully jumps from roof top to roof top, until he reaches a fire escape.
He climbs down to street level. It is still night but the vast array of electronica illuminates the street vividly.
He begins to blend into the crowd.
ICARUS (NARRATING)
This is life. The life of an urban soldier fighting for freedom. And so much more.
He spots someone he knows.
He makes his way through the crowd over to him. It is Chuck Thomson
CHUCK
Dirty bastards let you out huh?
ICARUS
Where you getting your intel from? I've been free as a bird since we last met.
CHUCK
I just assumed. (laughs)
ICARUS
They just nearly nabbed me though. You got a ride near by?
CHUCK
Oh I got a ride or two. Follow me partner. It's nice to see you again.
ICARUS
Like-wise. My life is busy at the best of times, don't take it personally.
They are approaching an alley way leading off into a car park.
CHUCK
Never did. Look I don't know what shit you guys have planned,
and to be frank....Just take the ride and mail me a cheque.
ICARUS
Don't worry Chuck. This is positively certificate 18.
CHUCK
Bodies follow you man, they fucking follow you.
ICARUS
This is war, not poetry.
CHUCK
Life seems pretty ok to me though Icarus. You're on a crusade man.
They reach the ride.
Icarus puts his hand out to shake Chuck's.
ICARUS
I'll try to return her in one piece.
CHUCK
Ah keep it. You know me, I got more rides than I know what to do with anyway.
ICARUS
You always were a good friend Chuck.
CHUCK
Tell me more at the after show party.
He smiles and taps him on the shoulder.
He gets in the car and it ascends upwards into the sky.
WE switch to inside the car, looking at Icarus sideways. The air traffic flows beside him.
ICARUS(Narrating)
We built utopia out of the ruins. But we...we just let her go.
We let her go and watched the world around turn to neon stone.
I won't. We won't......we can't let that happen any more.
It's time humanity took back her most prized asset.
INT - LEON'S DIGGS, A SKY-BAR - MOMENTS LATER
Leon and a room full of patrons sit and embellish their drink with story and humor.
The door slides open.
In walks Icarus.
LEON
Ick baby! Long time. Long mother fucking time. How you been?
Icarus
Stop calling me Ick. Please. I've been fine. You, you dirty scoundrel? (Laughs)
LEON
Well _Icarus_, I've been banging a super model!
ICARUS
In your lonely pathetic dreams?
LEON
Where else? (Laughs loudly) Sit, sit. Let me pour some of the fine stuff.
ICARUS
I don't drink anymore. Not while I'm on the job.
LEON
You're on the job huh? Oh well someone's going to hospital!
ICARUS
Leon...I appreciate your humor, but it can be misplaced.
LEON
Pardon me your majesty. (Smiles) A coke?
ICARUS
Plenty of ice.
LEON
Coming right up. Sit will ya, you're making me tired.
ICARUS
Alright, Alright.
He sits down and takes the shell of coke he is given by Leon
He downs it in one.
He burps loudly.
LEON
You always were a gut buster. Hah!
ICARUS
You always were a big immature idiot. How you been my friend?
LEON
Keeping the flies off the wall. Not much else to do up here. It's a good living. The view's amazing.(Smiles)
ICARUS
Yes, the view can be becoming. (Laughs)
LEON
Asshole (Smiles) Look, you in a sore spot? You need anything?
ICARUS
Just your gentle company for now. I may need a clean ride.
LEON
Well shit, I can do that. This is Leon! Leon the great!
ICARUS
Leon the bullshit artist.
LEON
Yeah, that too.(Laughs)
ICARUS
Any keepers nosing about?
LEON
Just the usual crowd. Relaxing after a hard day keeping the dischord.
ICARUS
Such scathing cynicism. You need a job?
LEON
Hey fuck you! (Laughing)
ICARUS
You big pair of bullocks. (Laughs)
LEON
Ah, I miss this. I do.
ICARUS
We'll be friends again one day. When my time is less...occupied.
LEON
Keep the faith right?
ICARUS
Always.
